“When Jesus taught about the end of the world and His second coming it was not meant to instill fear, distress and panic on the believer but rather to give us comfort, peace within, and bitter truth to heal and enlighten us.”

INTRODUCTION:

1.  The Objective of this teaching on what Jesus taught on the subject of the end of the world and His Second coming is to help believers understand that the three chapters in the three Gospels namely: Mark 13, Luke 21, and Matthew 24 is the clearest basis or the strongest scriptural ground to exegete, expound or explain what He meant by the term end of the world, the signs or marks of His coming and its timings as set by God the Father. For the good reason that it is exactly His own words and comes straight from the four gospels where the Apostles just wrote what Jesus did and taught.  The Gospel of Matthew chapter 13 and 25 also provides further reinforcement on the meaning of it since the parables of the Kingdom of Heaven contained in this, repeats through five parables the concept of the final end where the sons of God are rewarded and the sons of the devil punished! On the other hand, the epistles of St. Paul in 1 Corinthians, 1and 2 Thessalonians, 2 Peter, Jude, and Revelation where the end of time and Jesus second coming is taught by the writer apostles explains their inspired insight and personal revelations from Christ on the end, providing additional supporting role to the gospels but is never weightier than the gospel though both carries the same authority.

When Jesus taught about the end of the world and His second coming it was not meant to instill fear, distress and panic on the believer but rather to give us comfort, peace within, and bitter truth to heal and enlighten us. An opportunity to exercise the virtue of faith and wisdom and build the only hope within us and among us saints for His second coming is the only Hope of final redemption and eternal happiness for a sin enslaved, cursed burdened, war fatigued, death plagued humanity since Adam and Eve fell! Not only humanity is crying in agony and pain but the whole creation waiting for the final trumpet sound, the Sons of God immortalized and glorified in body! (Romans 8:26)

It is therefore imperative for the Bride-Wife of Christ and Redeemed ones to cry out to God to have the Spirit and the Bride say “Maranatha!” Come Lord Jesus!

2.  Jesus taught on the signs of the end of the world and His second coming by answering the three questions of His disciples namely Peter, Andrew, James and John (Mark13:3). The questions were the ff: a. “Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign when all these things shall be fulfilled?” (Mark 13:4) “Again the same question is written in Luke’s gospel -And they asked him, saying, Master, but when shall these things be? and what sign will there be when these things shall come to pass?” (Luke 21:7) These two question from the gospel of Mark and Luke is one and the same thing in essence but just worded differently. However the gospel of Matthew gives us an addition to this two same question where the added question is: “and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?”(Matthew 24:3) So in Matthew’s gospel a reference to the time of the Second coming of Jesus is added. Why is this important to note? Because the questions were raised by the Disciples when Jesus prophesied that the magnificent temple of Herod is going to be destroyed at some point in the future and where a specific act of the destruction was pointed out by Christ when He said that “One stone will not be left one on top of the other” (Matthew 24:2, Mark13:2, Luke 21:6) I’d like to comment on this prophecy by Christ as something very remarkable because He added a specific area of the temple that is not written in scripture. The book of Daniel 9:24-27 speaks about the Abomination of Desolation. A future prophesy of the destruction of Jerusalem and the temple but nowhere in scripture can you find His prophecy that the temple foundation stones will all be overturned completely! This again reinforces the Fact that Jesus is not just the Son of God but the Prophet of God spoken in Deuteronomy 18:18 for all this prophecy came to pass in A.D. 70. 40 years after His crucifixion! Amazing! Now, why is the destruction of the Temple significant to the end of the world and His second coming? Because all the events and signs recorded in the three gospels of Matthew Mark and Luke before the destruction of the temple and then the destruction of the temple itself. He then uses this event s and place to serve as the base location and a shadow and type of the final and Ultimate fulfillment way future. As a sample it is smaller in scale compared to the future final end which is far greater in scope affecting almost all nations if not all with the most severe destruction; largest death number and horror full scenes never before imagined by men.  Jesus Himself describes it as an unimaginable catastrophe on a worldwide scale as He said. “A time of great distress, unequaled from the beginning of the world until now—and never to be equaled again. ”(Matthew 24:21)

Yet after this, an indescribable glorious event unfolds in the very heavens Jesus coming in swiftly like a lightning strike as the Conquering King with all His hosts of heavenly armies coming down to Judge and destroy all His enemies and catch up with His own hand the resurrected and translated saints, ushering in a new dispensation of immortality and incorruptibility! going to take place. Also, the central Location of the great tribulation and the place where Jesus comes back is in Jerusalem!

So if ever today we want to know if Jesus coming back is near, the marker is the nation of Israel and the city of Jerusalem! Jesus Himself will be back on the condition that the general population of the nation of Israel say this to Him “For I tell you, you will not see me again until you say, ‘Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.” (Matthew 23:39)
